Day 2 - Orientation 2

So many things are happening so quickly! I wish that it were possible to recount all that has taken place. And I wish that I could set the framework of the this new world that I'm living in. But in reality there is not enough time. Like, literally so little time. Not to mention the fact that by the time I sit down to do this I’m extremely exhausted. Nevertheless I will try to hit the high and lowlights of what has happened each day and fill in some overall detail as I go if I get the chance. A friend suggested that I try doing a sort of photo blog. Let's give it a shot here and see how it goes...

We started the day off with a bike safety presentation. A cycling instructor taught us the rules of the road as well as ways to avoid crashes, among other things. After the class, we went into the parking lot to practice avoidance drills.
Every day each rider will get a copy of that day's cue sheet. The cue sheet has turn by turn directions on how to get to the next destination.
After lunch, we set out on our "shakedown" or practice ride.
We started in downtown Charleston, went over the Ravenel Bridge into Sullivan's Island, out to Fort Moultrie, and back.
Somehow, I managed to get 2 flats...AT THE SAME TIME. Both my front and back tires went out simultaneously.
At Fort Moultrie, I decided to do a little climbing. I may or may not have gotten yelled at. Was capturing this amazing picture worth it? Absolutely!
On the way back from Mount Pleasant I see an expanse of ocean to my left. A short detour from the route and I discover this sweet spot.
The Catty Corner:
Me: “Can I sit down next to you? I think we have the same sense of humor.”
Erin: “Yeah. I’m weird inside.”
