About 15 miles into this ride I started crying and saying, "I don't want to be here anymore". I feel like I've already reached my breaking point and I've blown right past it. I've been having a serious problem with my shoulder/upper back muscles. I have a knot that sends a stabbing pain across my back every time I ride for more than 5 miles. It makes the rides difficult to enjoy. And since we ride so much, a lot of the trip is not enjoyable. So the first half of this ride, which happened to be uphill, was miserable. We began the descent on US 40, the worst road we've ridden so far, until we made it to second lunch at the bottom of the mountain. From there we turned left and everything got so much better: flatter, less headwind, prettier. We ended the ride on a bike path along the Provo River and it was absolutely gorgeous. |

My favorite part of the day was when we rode by Strawberry Reservoir about half way through the ride. I was amazed that there were so many varying colors in just ten square feet. |

Of course I took a summit photo with my usual pose... |

...but this is a better depiction of what I felt like! |

Dad came over and challenged a couple of the guys to an arm wrestling match. I've never, in all my years, seen my dad lose. But Reuben gave him a run for his money. After a couple minutes passed they called the match a draw. |
The Catty Corner: I weigh more than I've ever weighed in my entire life. What happened to losing weight on a cross country bike ride?!
